At a glance
- Place Lampi in a Thai Mueang outing south of Khao Lak
- Give the driver the waterfall entrance, not the coastal park headquarters
- Choose a permitted view that everyone can comfortably reach
- Treat rain, admission and any beach pairing as separate decisions
Make the forest a reason to head south
A day towards Thai Mueang does not have to stay beside the sea. Lampi Waterfall belongs to the mountain-forest part of Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Mueang National Park. Water flowing down through the Lampi range gives a southern outing a different focus from another beach stop.
Choose Lampi if you want the waterfall to be part of that wider journey. If your only aim is to compare waterfalls near Khao Lak, read the options for Ton Chong Fa and Sai Rung before arranging a car. Their location and approach may suit a different kind of day; there is little reason to visit all three simply to complete a list.

The park name covers more than one arrival point
DNP describes the park as two separate parts: the Lampi forest and the Thai Mueang coast. Its headquarters is at the beach. Save the actual Lampi Waterfall entrance and share that pin when booking transport, particularly if the driver offers a trip described only by the national park's name.
At Ban Lampi, the waterfall has an inland approach from Phetkasem Road. Once the destination is clear, contact the park about the walk from the current parking point: the permitted viewing route, its surface and any steps or steep ground. Establish admission and visiting arrangements at the same time, particularly if your transport also includes the park's coast.
A good view does not have to be the highest one
Lampi descends in stages, with a natural pool at its lower part. Plan around the section staff currently recommend, rather than a number of levels to reach. A lower view may be all you want, especially if the rest of the day involves a beach or another journey.
Take time to look at how the water moves over the rock and how the forest surrounds it. Stay on the permitted route and leave wet rocks out of your photo plans. The pool is a feature of the landscape, not an assurance of safe swimming. Keep the visit worthwhile without entering the water, and stop where your group can return comfortably.
Check the water before fixing the day's order
Recent rain can change both the waterfall and the ground around it. DNP's national advice calls for visitors to follow warnings and closures where heavy rainfall raises the risk of flash floods. Check with park staff before travelling and follow the instructions at the waterfall; an open beach area elsewhere in the park does not establish that this route is open.
Wear shoes with grip and bring water, insect repellent and protection for rain-sensitive belongings. Keep hands free for walking and carry litter out. If the route closes or conditions no longer suit your group, move on to a separately checked alternative. A waterfall can be the reason for an outing without becoming something you have to reach whatever the weather.
Add Thai Mueang Beach only if you want both landscapes
Thai Mueang Beach gives the day a natural contrast: time in forest followed by a stretch of Andaman shore. Treat it as another destination with its own access point and sea conditions. Check with the park whether any admission arrangements cover both places, rather than assuming one payment settles the whole route.
Agree the waterfall waiting time, the beach stop and the final collection with your driver as one clear plan. Include a chosen place to eat and ask how the fare changes if you shorten the route. Keep the two entrance pins saved separately so everyone knows which stop is next and where the car will wait.
