What draws you to the bay?
In Phang Nga Bay, the landscape is a reason to get on a boat. Limestone islands, coastal scenery and mangroves define Ao Phang Nga National Park. This is a different kind of outing from the offshore Similan and Surin islands: cliffs, island shapes and smaller waterways can be the main interest, rather than time at a reef.
From a Khao Lak base, you can look for landmark sightseeing, a canoe experience or a mix of both. It helps to decide which attracts you most before comparing trips. A James Bond Island headline may cover a day with plenty of other stops, while a canoe-focused programme may spend more of its attention on one part of the bay.

What a James Bond Island stop includes
For the famous James Bond Island landmark, look for Khao Phing Kan and Khao Tapu in the itinerary. DNP names them among the natural attractions in the bay. Find out whether your visit means a landing, a viewing stop or another arrangement; the familiar headline alone will not tell you.
Think of two things you most want from the day. For photographs and time around limestone scenery, a programme crowded with extra attractions may feel too divided. For a group that enjoys variety, the extra stops may be exactly the attraction. Read the schedule for the time it gives your interests, rather than counting place names.

Who paddles, and where?
Seastar's published James Bond Island programme combines bay sightseeing, a stop at Panyi Island and canoeing around Hong Island, starting from a pier in Phuket. The operator says the programme may change. It is a useful example of why the bay's name tells you neither where the journey starts nor how the activities share the day.
Before paying, ask whether a guide paddles the canoe or guests do, how passengers are grouped and what the alternative is if you skip that activity. Confirm the briefing language and discuss any access requirements. Cave and lagoon names deserve the same attention: the operator needs to explain what is accessible on your departure, rather than leaving you to infer it from a brochure.
Include the transfers in your comparison
Start with the exact pier and pickup arrangement. A boat leaving Phuket means a different journey from one starting on the Phang Nga mainland, even if the trips use similar bay photographs. Get the Khao Lak pickup point, transfer inclusion and return arrangement in writing. The departure time at a pier is not the time you need to be ready at your accommodation.
Compare the total payable amount and check whether park admission, canoe activities, meals and transfers are included. If lunch or a village visit is part of the appeal, ask where the stop will be and discuss food requirements. Save the cancellation and itinerary-change terms with your confirmation, especially if you reserve from abroad. Those details tell you more about value than an old example price.
Park access and village etiquette
Ao Phang Nga has its own park information and access notices; an opening calendar for another marine park does not establish access here. Check the current information and have the operator confirm your departure. Give the outing a full holiday day without an airport transfer depending on its advertised return.
A small bag for essentials is enough to start your packing list; the operator can tell you what it supplies. For a village stop, cover up after water activities, respect homes and places of worship, and ask before photographing residents. A village is a place to visit with consideration, even when it appears between two sightseeing stops on the programme.
